In this lecture, Dr. Ana Mary Rusch discussed her ethnographic study of Cuban immigration in Berlin. Her study explores the dynamics of integration, the complexity of identity, and the heterogeneity of the Cuban diaspora. Dr. Rusch also shared her experiences within the field in Berlin, and addressed how her identity as a Cuban-German interacted with her research, as well as how she navigated insider bias through an outsider perspective. Dr. Ana Mary Rusch is an adjunct professor in the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Global and Sociocultural Studies and has a B.A. in International Relations with second majors in Political Science and Geography, all from FIU.
